Son of the late "Lefty" Weisman, Trainer of the Cleveland Indians from 1924-1949, Fred was born, raised and educated in Cleveland, Ohio. He graduated Cleveland Heights High School in 1944 and Case Western Reserve University in 1948 with a B.A. degree and L.L.B. in 1951, following his enlistment in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Founder of Weisman, Kennedy & Berris and as a member of the Ohio and New York State bars, his career has been dedicated to representation of victims of wrongdoing. Some of his cases have not only resulted in the highest verdicts in Ohio's history (at that time), but they impacted basic law and safety practices. For example, Fred led the Supreme Court arguments that first gave wives the right to recover damages when their husbands were wrongfully injured; and he attained the highest verdict in the history of Federal Court (Cleveland) against the Veterans Administration. In medical malpractice cases, hospital policy was changed at a Cleveland hospital specifically because of his case which demonstrated lack of qualification of an obstetrical physician to administer spinal anesthesia. Additionally, a verdict obtained in an action against another local hospital on behalf of a brain-damaged child was then reportedly the highest in Ohio's history.

Fred has served as past president of the Cuyahoga County Bar Association and Cleveland Academy of Trial Attorneys (aka Ohio Association For Justice). He has been listed in the Best Lawyers in America since its first publication
